Uniform

Like all the best teams in the world, uniform is crucial. When children join our team, they are gifted 3 t-shirts, a fleece and a book bag. The children wear dark green t-shirts and a black fleece. Staff members wear black t-shirts.

Children can decide to wear black or grey trousers or skirts/dresses. A number of our young people decide to wear green gingham dresses in the summer. Trousers or shorts are sometimes more practical due to the amount of outdoor learning/farming that takes place. Black/dark appropriate footwear should be worn.

Long hair should be tied back.

Stud earrings only.

Lunch

Meadow View Farm School promotes a whole-school approach to healthy eating by encouraging the children and staff to make healthy choices with regards breakfasts and lunches. A wide range of fresh fruit is also provided. Our desserts contain reduced sugar and a higher fibre content. We work hard to expose children to a broad and balanced diet and encourage them to try foods they may not have tried from around the world.

We can support children with specific and complex dietary needs. If you are concerned about your child accessing the full range of food on offer, please speak with Michelle (FSW) or another member of SLT. It sometimes helps to print off, and highlight the foods you are confident your child will try/eat, and the foods you are certain cause some issues, this way we can work to support your child to create an alternative if needed.

Packed Lunches

At Meadow View Farm School, we do not offer a packed lunch option because mealtimes are a central part of our therapeutic approach and community ethos. Sharing a hot, home-cooked meal together helps to create a consistent routine, build social skills, and foster a sense of belonging. Many of our pupils have complex sensory or emotional needs around food, and our carefully planned menus ensure they receive balanced, nutritious meals in a safe and supportive environment. By eating together, staff and pupils can model positive behaviours, support regulation, and use the dining experience as an extension of learning and relationship-building—something that would be harder to achieve with individual packed lunches.

Please see below for example menus.

Late/Absence Procedure

It is really important for your child's progress and well-being that they attend school regularly with limited time off. Should your child be unwell, please speak to the school office if you are unsure on the length of time off required for illnesses that are contagious.

Please contact the school office on 01455 840825 at the earliest opportunity to let us know if your child is unable to attend.

We understand that a lot of children attending MVFS have higher than average appointments. Please speak to the school office regarding appointments.

If you have any worries relating to absence, please call Katie, Ben or Michelle directly or ask for them to call you back.

Should we not hear from you regarding a reason for absence, we will continue to try to make contact by phoning, messaging or emailing to ascertain why your child is not in school. Failure to inform the school office may result in a home visit if we are unable to make contact, depending on the needs of each individual child, family and circumstances.
